* The Final Programme, Robert Fuest (1973)

This one is great, and so underrated.
Outside the US, it’s titled The Last Days Of Man On Earth (French title Les décimales du futur), and subtitled The Future Is Cancelled. Sounds great…
Great director, great cast great story. I don’t know what went wrong with this film. Maybe it seemed too close to the TV Series The Avengers and Doctor Who. To be fair, I must admit that it’s quite a slapdash film, unlike Fuest’s previous films. The original novel by Michael Moorcock really deserves a better adaptation.
It’s edited in France by Studio Canal under the label Les Films Inclassables (Unclassifiable Films). Try to find it, it’s worth seein.
* Chocolate Box meets SF
Posted on décembre 1st, 2009 by YATS. Filed under Non classé.
Just found at my local bookstore a classic edition of Herbert’s masterwork Dune, which will complete my collection of SF classics and random pieces from the 70’s published under the label Ailleurs & Demain.
Chocolate box cover. The future in your hand.
